Casino

You reach the casino, a large building with a luxurious touch on the inside. There's all sorts of games: dice games, roulette games, card games, even slot machines.

Standing at one of the slots, but not Slot, is none other than Bottle.

Also, at the entrance, an employee asks for what name you'd like to go by here. They state that it's in fun to have "code names." These names will be written on name tags, so that dealers know how to refer to you because this casino is all about ~personal~ touch.

So, what names will you provide?

Also, you will find that Early isn't with you.

"Hmm, call me Groove!" Slot says with a grin.

"Thank you, Groove." The employee writes your name in big marker onto a name tag that you can attach to the front of your shirt.

Dusk blinks. She has to think about this.

Slot offers a small wave at Dusk "I'm going to check on Bottle and see what he's made so far. Don't get into trouble~"

"Call me Peanut!" She waves a hand to Groove!

The employee smiles and offers you a name tag with exactly that on it. "Thank you, Peanut."

Slot stops to laugh when he hears that, then he gets back to sneaking up on his boyfriend.

Dusk is gonna wander over to dice games after she gets the name tag, looking curiously at all of the lights... :O

There are several dice games!

• Chaotic Gambit: pay in 50g to participate. A poker-like game in which you roll three dice in three rounds, and you attempt to have the highest total. Winner takes 80% of the entire total.

• Angel's Favor: pay in 25g for a chance to roll two dice and get exactly 7 or 12. Double the bets to toss in another die.

• Slot Machines: pay 1g-10g per go for a chance at the slots!

• Roulette: pay 25g for each go. You pick a number between 1-20, and place your bets. Whichever one it lands on rewards you with double, perhaps triple, whatever's on it.

• Lizard Races: Also there are lizard races happening on a table over there, you can bet on racing lizards like you would horses.

Dusk just sits down at a random table, not even paying attention to which game she is at. 'u' What's happening

Dusk you are probably sitting at a game of Chaotic Gambit, in which the dealer looks at you expectantly. There's four other people sitting here, all waiting to see if you're chipping in.

Dusk looks at everyone else. Head one way, head the other way. "Hi!"

"Miss Peanut, are you taking part in this round of Chaotic Gambit?" The dealer has a tight smile.

The others—an eyepatched woman with the nametag "Victory," a bald fellow with the nametag "Bacon Bacon Bacon," a teenaged girl with the nametag "Fallen Angel," and a young man with the nametag "Pinballsy"—stare at you, waiting.

"I don't know how to play! I'm just a small Peanut. Nice to meet you, Victory, Bacon Bacon Bacon, Fallen Angel, and Pinsballsy."

The dealer smiles naturally this time. In fact, everyone looks to be in a good mood around the table! "Tell you what—we'll teach you how to play, but you will have to put in 50g."

"Okay." Dusk puts in 50g into a weird spot. Fallen Angel helpfully slides it into the right pile, along with all of the other 50g. In total, there's 250g.

"Excellent," remarks the dealer. "Now, everyone roll a 1D8, but keep it secret from the other players." He winks and holds a finger up to his lips, shh.

Dusk just rolls that dice, making a shhh motion. She also looks at the others, sparkling. "If you ever want me to sing for you guys, just let me know! I'm an idol~"

Everyone laughs. You're such a good person, Dusk!

Victory: "Oh girly, only if you know some of them crooning songs!"
Bacon^3: "What a generous offer, do we have stages here?"
Dealer: "We don't. In any case, everyone look over their rolls for me. Will you raise, call, or fold?"

Victory tosses her die into the middle of the table. Answer enough.

Pinballsy stiffles a grin and shouts "Raise! By 20g."

Bacon^3 and Fallen Angel look at each other and add 20g to the pool. As it stands, the pool is currently at 310g.

"Raising what? Like chickens?" Dusk asks.

Okay, everyone loves you but they're making a face at you. "If you'd like to stay in this game, Peanut, you will need to add another 20g."

"Oh. Okay." I guess she adds 20.

The dealer smiles~

"This time, roll a 1D6 and keep that roll private from the other players! Afterwards, tell me if you'd like to raise your bet one last time, stay where you're at, or fold!" Another wink~~

“Okay!” She smiles, SHE SEEMS QUITE PLEASED! “I’ll follow everyone else~” Sparkle sparkle sparkle!

The dealer raises an eyebrow. Victory is laying her head on the table, playing with her hair, she folded last round so she's no good. Everyone seems intent on staying, so if you plan on following the sheep you can roll a final 1D4 to determine the winner!

She rolls again, uwaaah. SPARKLE SPARKLE WOW!

The dealer grins. "The results are in~"

Victory: 1 - FOLD
Bacon^3: 4 - 2 - 2 = 8
Fallen Angel: 4 - 2- 3 = 8
Pinballsy: 6 - 4 - 2 = 12, WINNER OF 264g! (after 20% was taken for the casino)
Dusk: 5 - 2 - 2 = 9

Pinballsy slams his hands on the table and cheers, FUCK YEAH! GIVE ME THAT MONEY! Fucker pulls it all over to him before the dealer can touch it. The others sigh. The dealer smiles.

"Would you like to play again? ♥"

Dusk makes a sad face. Oh. :(

Does Dusk even have that money, probably not. She claps for Pinballsy though, claps claps claps . . .

Everyone politely claps along with Dusk. Victory leans over to her though, and whispers. "Hey, you know what you're doing?"

Despite her scary face, what with having an eyepatch and a set of permanently angry looking brows, she seems concerned.

Dusk turns to look at Victory, blinking. "Not at all. I'm looking to buy a dress. But somehow I ended up here."

Victory raises her brows. "Eh? You just want a dress? Ha! What for? Ain't you cute enough?"

"I'm very cute!" Dusk nods, quick pose. "But I guess we're trying to go to a ball or something cuz we really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really gotta get back home soon! I think we need clothes and then they said to come to the casino, and it's very nice here! It's like it's own stage, isn't it? But I've never really played these kinds of games before..."

Victory grins and ruffles your hair. "Ohh, such a pure girl. Thrown to the sharks, just like that. Now, if you were a whale, that'd be different, but you'd be buying your own dresses if that were the case." She laughs to herself. "At this rate you won't have enough for socks, so think of something else! Or keep gambling. You saw how shittily I did, don't wanna keep going like that~"

She winks but it's hard to tell if it's a wink because she wears an eyepatch.

Dusk winks back. She can feel the winking spirit. "Wow, I didn't even see a shark anywhere! You're pretty observant! I don't know if I should keep gambling, I don't have a lot of money..." HMMMMMMM.

"I may have one eye, but I'm plenty observant, darling! Just find yourself a good place and steal from it, that's what I always say! But don't be the idiot who bets their life." Victory laughs offering a sad smile. "One time there was a boy so torn over his dad's death that he tried spending his entire inheritance on it. I could just tell who he was from that sorry look in his eyes. When he lost all he had on him, he tried betting his life. I cheated just so I could win."

Then she offers a wicked grin. There's something about the look in her eye. "Do you know what happened after that~?"

"You decided to make friends with him?" Dusk asks, point blank.

"Keh! As if." She leans back in her chair, staring at the ceiling. "The kid looked terrified, like I was going to bite his head off. When I started talking he started crying. I told him he was unlucky for losing, but lucky for losing to me... now get outta here and make a life worth betting! ... some kinda sappy bullshit like that."

"Oh, that sounds like someone I know! He cries a lot too! His name is Early, you know him?" Dusk exclaims.

"Oho! Early! I can't disclose REAL names, but would it help if I told you he used the code name Later?" Another wink~

Dusk thinks about it, "I don't know . . ." Aka she isn't thinking too hard about it either way. "Oh, but he does a good job, he has a very nice shop of clothes. They cost a lot of money, but they're really nice! He's nice! He's helping us get home, yep."

"So he opened a shop, then? Good, good. I guess he didn't waste everything here. Sure is Early."

So much for not revealing his real name.

"He's a good kid who worries too much. Heard he got out of the city. All the better for him, I say. Wanna deliver a word to Early for me?"

"Sure, okay!" Dusk smiles. "You seem very nice. Right? Right?"

"Just tell him that Victory's glad for him. That's it. Nothing else, don't pretty it up, just tell him I'm glad for him."

"Okay . . . " Hmmmmmmmmm. Dusk's giving her a LOOK. Jiiiiiiiii.

Her face goes red. "OH COME ON, you'd be saying the same if you saw that kid coming in every night looking like he just slept with the dead! When I learned who he was, I had to watch over him. And I only cheated that one time, to make sure he didn't fuck himself over. Geez, nobody's allowed to be a decent person without being judged, huh!" She kicks her feet up on the table, to which the dealer asks her to stop and she doesn't.

"I'm not judging." Dusk places her chins in her hands, propping her elbows on the table, which I assume the dealer asks her to stop and she doesn't. "I do think you're a decent person! And I'd even be friends with you if you wanted."

The dealer just wanted a quiet life and here you two are making his life difficult.

"Friends? You think I'm the type that does the whole friend thing?"

"There isn't a type, friendship is for everyone!" SPARKLING. "Why do miserable and terrible things when you could do fun and nice things! If you want, lets go outside and we can sing for everyone! And maybe we can get your money back!"

Wasn't she suppose to be buying something???????

Hm.... Oh well.

"Oh golly gee whiz, lady, I just love frolicking through the flowers and singing with my friends~!" Victory says with the most sarcastically cheerful voice anyone in this town has ever fucking heard, she's a master at this.

"Oh good, me too! Well, singing, I never tried frolicking through the flowers."

"Oh come on, get real! I don't do friendship, that's for kids!" She pulls her feet off the table, much to the dealer's relief, and starts walking away. "It's time for me to fly. Find you on the flip-side, Peanut, and don't forget to convey that message to Early."

Slot and Bottle manage to make it back in time to witness that lady leaving, the dealer nearly in tears, and everyone else kind of waiting to see why they can't play their dice game.

"My name is Dusk! But if you ever wanna be friends, we can do that anytime! The offer is there! FOREVER!" Dusk smiles, she seems quite happy now!

"...made a new friend?" Slot asks Dusk.

Victory throws a wave over her shoulder, but that's it. It should be noted that she wears a suit, and looks hella snazzy. Fuckin' cool, right?????

Dusk watches. Cool . . . "It's a work in progress. She's shy. But she's Early's friend!"

"Early has more friends??" Slot says, looking at Bottle in confusion.

"I think she helped him not die one time." Dusk bounces over, time to find Early actually. "Maybe she ~Likes~ him."

"Oho~ You think so?" Slot follows her, dragging Bottle with him.

"Uh huh, uh huh. I guess we'll see." Dusk bounces. "Mmm, I guess Early worked really hard . . . "

"it was either working hard, or hardly working for him." Slot comments.

Dusk sneezes. Someone seemed to be talking about her.
