Child of the Sun - pt 1 - Brother
And then,
As you look around,
You still see pure white... because you're back in Halation, your lovely little poor humble snowy kingdom. You stand before the gate doors, just inside the kingdom.
It's very quiet.
Not a single person is on the streets.
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
"We're home!" Dusk calls out with zero fear, and her face suddenly brightens with a smile, but her eyes are still sharp and almost a little dark. "Isn't this nice?"
Climate Change12/16/2017
Clima reaches out with his other hand to grab Dusk by her own hand. "It's nice."
Slut the Rumored12/16/2017
Slot is back on edge. He's stiff, and he's fidgeting with a returned shuriken in his hand. His wolf ears are on alert, trying to pick up on the slightest sound and his eyes are darting around. Are they still here? Are they--?
Primrose the Blessed12/16/2017
Primrose glares at Clima, though not nearly as intensely as usual. Her tail flicks as she sniffs at the air. "It'll be nicer soon."
GM12/16/2017
Oh, by the way, you guys are joined by the giant glass dining table.
It is also here.
Cinderella warped that here, too.
So if you guys survive you get a nice table!
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
"Oh, that's very nice, thanks Cindy!" She says as if she can hear her.
...
Taps on it.
Also she is holding Clima's hand but also now practically dragging him as she WALKS THROUGH TOWN, if nowhere weird, to the castle then. She's going quite fast.
Slut the Rumored12/16/2017
Sorry Bottle, Slot would normally hold your hand too, but he's too on edge to be very dere right now, so he's just going to follow after Dusk.
Climate Change12/16/2017
He's keeping up with her well, but poor Crimson is definitely being chokedragged if he doesn't come along.
Slut the Rumored12/16/2017
It's fine. He'll deal with it.
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
I forgot about that guy, who is he?
Primrose the Blessed12/16/2017
Why didn't I get to shoot him?
Slut the Rumored12/16/2017
He's more fun alive right now Primrose.
GM12/16/2017
Your voices echo through room. The front room was always pretty empty, to be fair, but there's usually people standing guard.
The snow crunches beneath your feet... and the dragging of Crimson behind you, accompanied by his groans, is just pleasant.
You walk through the Guild room, where staff will help you learn useful skills and skills relating to getting the most out of your items.
That's empty, too.
You stand before the Royal Palace doors, which are still just a ruddy little pair of doors leading into another large room you're using as your palace, but I guess it's still a Royal Palace.
Behind you, the double doors leading to the Deep Ones Temple have been chained up, locked, and dismissed. If it's been this way since your "departure," it's likely the gods haven't receive any worship, attention, or sacrifices since then.
Still,
You stand before the Royal Palace doors, which are closed.
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
Dusk just attempts to push the doors open. "Ahaha! How strange all of this is, isn't it?"
Climate Change12/16/2017
Clima's going to yank Crimson harshly and nod to the door. Maybe he should help?
Primrose the Blessed12/16/2017
"Shouldn't we sneak in..."
Not that she makes any attempt to actually stop Dusk, or anything.
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
"Why?"
Primrose the Blessed12/16/2017
Because that would be the SMART THING TO DO. "Because -- it's -- "
Sigh. "I guess a ruler shouldn't bother sneaking into her own palace."
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
"Ohhhh...." Head tilt?????? "But I guess that's true!"
Slut the Rumored12/16/2017
Slot just keeps fidgetting with the shuriken. This is Fine.
Primrose the Blessed12/16/2017
Primrose's ears flatten against her head as looks up at the door, and pointedly not anywhere near at Dusk. "Hey...you know what we're dealing with here, right? You have a plan, right?"
Slut the Rumored12/16/2017
"Have we ever had a plan?" Slot says quietly.
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
Dusk looks back at Primrose. "Ummm, I've never been good at making plans. And if we wait too long, I don't know what will happen and I don't like thinking about that for much longer. . . " Hufffffs. "But I don't wanna ignore you guys either if you got other stuff or ideas . . . "
Climate Change12/16/2017
Clima speaks, softly. "What do you want to do, Dusk?"
Primrose the Blessed12/16/2017
"She just wants to go. She's right, we don't really have time. And Slot's right that we never have a plan."
"So, I guess I'll do my job for once! Do whatever you want, Dusk, I'll have something ready by the time we need it!"
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
"We'll be okay! Cuz I trust you guys!" Dusk nods, smiling. Though she had to think about it for a moment, did Primrose not do her job at all up until now??? Huh. "About what I want to do though . . . "
"I want to see Parsley and Snip! That's all."
Primrose the Blessed12/16/2017
"Sounds fine to me."
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
With that, she moves back to pushing the doors open. I guess we'll see what happens?
GM12/16/2017
Of course—a ruler shouldn't have to sneak into their own kingdom! You push the doors open!
The doors push open with a whiny squeeeeeak, because you still haven't oiled them! Oh wait, that was supposed to be Solitaire's job. How dare he.
You catch the tail end of a conversation.
"—but it's not like we... oh."
Parsley of the Past is sitting at the pitiful table, only vaguely surprised at your presence. They didn't replace the furniture, I mean, the bowl of plastic fruit is still sitting right in the middle there.
Handcuffed and holding a pot of tea, is a bruised and bandaged Domino, who freezes where she is to stare at you wordlessly... while pouring Parsley a cup of tea.
And, backed into the corner, standing beside the mysterious cloaked figure (is this the especially silent one who accompanied the twins back then?) is none other than (Par)Snip of the Future. He's pale, but he doesn't look like he's seen a ghost, per say. He looks like he's fighting a bad case of constipation, with a face all sweaty and scrunchy.
"Ah, geez, so one of my future sights were right after all. You were going to come back. Can't trust a damn thing, can I?"
Parsley laughs at his brother's coarse words. His smile is tight, forced. "No wonder you're always so stressed, Snip. You can see so many possibilities..."
Parsley takes a sip of tea.
Parsnip runs his hand through his hair.
The mysterious cloaked figure remains quiet, and Domino's face is calm, save for the wild way her eyes dart over you.
It's Parsley who quickly breaks the silence before you can, with a voice that's light and airy like he's about to laugh.
"Did you think you could take your Kingdom back this easily?"
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
Absolutely IGNORES THEM. Dusk face brightens a lot once she sees her beloved maid. "Domino! Hiiiiii! We're back! Sorry it took so long! Stuff happened, but you probably know that already!"
GM12/16/2017
Domino, the poor battle maid, has a bruise on her cheek and bandages along her wrists, beneath the handcuffs.
She's quiet. Too quiet.
Have they broken her spirit?
She glances away uncertainly, like she's about to make a big dive, then meets your eyes.
"That is fine, your majesty. Please take care of this. I do not wish to serve them any longer."
They haven't.
Parsley snaps, throwing his teacup right at you, Dusk. And if you have nothing to counter that, I'll have to do an Attack Check to see if you dodge that.
Or if they miss, whichever or.
Primrose the Blessed12/16/2017
Primrose, who probably stayed up all fucking night practicing sweet revolver tricks, draws and fires at the cup the moment it's thrown.
And then breathes an audible sigh of relief because holy shit there is no way she actually going to make that shot good thing she believed in herself,
Dusk the Best12/16/2017
Dusk doesn't even flinch, sometimes u just gotta trust your badass teammates with great rolls.
Gotta HOPE.
"That's why we're here after all~"
GM12/17/2017
Parsley's smile falls. This is the kind of person who maintains such a friendly farce, only for the smallest thing to snap his self control from him.
"Why do you bother!"
Parsnip actually looks concerned for his twin, the way he lashed out like that.
And the mysterious cloak person? You get the feeling they're unimpressed.
Parsley, however, continues.
"We took it from you! There's nothing of value in this miserly place anyway, just look at it! You have fake fruit and a temple to Deep Ones! Disgusting! Filth!"
Slut the Rumored12/17/2017
"You obviously haven't eaten a fake apple before." Slot says, like Parsley is missing out.
Dusk the Best12/17/2017
"Yeah! Juno likes those apples, don't be mean. And Walnut works at that church so it's not that bad probably." Dusk s m i l e s. Her eyes also look a little manic as she tilts her head. "And anyway? What did you even take from us?"
GM12/17/2017
His clenched fist shakes. All of you are fools.
Right as he opens his mouth, a... nother voice comes out?
No. It's the mysterious cloaked figure. He speaks up, cutting Parsley off completely.
"What an embarrassing mess. You should have attacked them by now. You could have taken off their heads. Instead," he turns to Parsnip, who still stands in the corner, "you throw a piece of glass and hide."
This cloaked man's voice is very level, very stern.
But, Dusk,
It sounds so remarkably... perhaps, disturbingly, familiar to you.
Dusk the Best12/17/2017
She would have talked about how it must be because Parsnip likes them! But when she hears the voice, Dusk slllllllllllowly turns her head to the cloaked figure, her face suddenly gets a MEAN expression.
GM12/17/2017
You can't see his face, but you can tell his gaze is focused on you... and maybe the rest of the Court.
"You think you have power because you can predict the future or see into the past. Like a child, you cry about your failures instead of looking upon them and fixing them properly. To think, the higher division stuck me with you. What you needed wasn't an overseer, but a babysitter."
Parsley's face grows pale. Parsnip looks for worse, too.
The man pulls back his hood, revealing blonde hair and golden eyes. With features such as those, one would think he would be energetic, or perhaps kind. However, in contrast to his warm appearence, his voice is stern and cold like a harsh parent's.
"Perhaps I should take care of this Court myself. After all, it's only fitting that the original heir to this kingdom be the one to strike it from the hands of one who does not deserve it."
Climate Change12/17/2017
Clima watches without his expression changing, though he does nudge Dusk a little.
Dusk the Best12/17/2017
Dusk doesn't even notice, her eyes are locked onto the stranger with her face twisting into a nasty scowl that not many has seen. "Dawn!!"
Primrose the Blessed12/17/2017
"Dawn?"
Slut the Rumored12/17/2017
"Where it's always darkest before?"
GM12/17/2017
Dawn's bitter smile doesn't reach his eyes. In fact, it's unfitting to call it a smile. He merely upturns the corners of his lips. He slowly steps towards you, Halation's Court.
"Dawn, Child of the Sun. The son who meant to inherit this kingdom." Parsley takes a step back, nearly knocking over Domino. Dawn pays no mind. "I admit, it would have been nice to have this kingdom in my possession. But,"
He stops, standing only several feet from you.
"It came to a point where I only wanted to see it destroyed."
As you look around,
You still see pure white... because you're back in Halation, your lovely little poor humble snowy kingdom. You stand before the gate doors, just inside the kingdom.
It's very quiet.
