[The memory starts with the sound of footsteps, echoing in the hallway. The footsteps belong to Angel who seems to be walking with steadfast determination, carrying a large flag in her arm. She's a little younger in this memory, but this expression has more life to it than her child self.

I must ask mother.

I have to know the truth.

She hears herself say these words over and over as she approaches the Throne Room where her parents should be. As soon as she reaches the closed doors, she feels her entire body freeze in place.

Something isn't right. Something isn't right at all.

When she opens the door, her instincts are proven correct by the smell of blood. On the floor are the dead bodies of her parents, and the court that had followed her parents.

And right in the middle of the room is her brother, looking at her and smiling.]

...there's a reason Halation has carried on as it has for generations. Our father could always kill so many thanks to the pitiful masses being drawn in. Strangers would settle here knowing that their inevitable suffering and impending death would all hold significance in the grand scheme of the world. For some, this was the only place that accepted them.

And when they suffered, they knew that their misery sustained the world. Their deaths meant something to someone.

Our kingdom holds so much significance that it even attracted the despicable likes of Heaven itself.

And I hate it. I can't stand it.

But, to put a halt to this misery making would merely result in the world's end.

An end to our suffering only means the suffering of everyone else.

With so much at stake, if I'm to choose between us or the world...

I'd choose the world. I'd choose the world and save everyone else every single time.

I see you standing there with an expression that Dawn would never make. A face that has accepted what father has done and what father had believed in.

You've questioned me long enough. It begs the question—are you going to support me or are you going to defy me?

Why does he have that face?

Why? When did this happen?

When did she stop paying attention? Is this her fault? Did she make her brother become this way?]

Brother... brother... please, I cannot understand why you would continue this. Brother, it hurts so much. I am so miserable seeing you like this. You cannot choose the world when you end up killing a part of it, can you not understand that?

Dawn . . . I love you so much, I love you so much, it is painful. I would pick your happiness every time I was given the choice to. Even if it meant the entire world would end, even if it meant I would die, the risk is worth it if it means you are happy.

But I don't understand . . . Why would you try and protect a world that obviously doesn't care about us? Do you not feel the same way about me? A world that said it was okay if I was locked up in the darkness so many times . . .

Are you saying that all of that pain and suffering I went through was acceptable if it's for the greater good? Please do not say it is, I do not think I could handle it, brother.

...I care about people.

The world is greater than you and I. There are countless others with their own families, and you are saying here that only you and your own matter.

No!! I am saying we do not matter less than anyone else so why do we have to die?! Or actually, why does everyone in the kingdom have to die?

We don't even know what would happen if we stopped killing! Maybe we'll be able to find a way to save the world AND protect everyone!

[Gripping the pole of her staff until her knuckles turning white. The image of her brother's blank expression is still burned into her mind, and every time she thinks of it, her chest tightens and she finds it harder to breathe.

I am worthless anyway. Nothing of value would be lost if I died.

But their lives . . . all of their lives shine so brightly. It is worth trying to protect them with this meaningless life I have.

You think far too small. Protecting the lives of everyone in Halation means killing everyone else, and eventually them. You can't accomplish anything by thinking like this.

And you are not looking what is in front of you!

Accomplish what, brother? Accomplish what exactly?

Sustaining the balance of the world to keep everyone alive.
